Page anatomy

Every sheet after the cover opens with the running head and closes with the footer. Sheet 612 by 792 points. The content column runs 7.4 inches wide, the footer rule lands at y 761.5, and the footer glyphs bottom out near y 777. Those two numbers are the geometry constants the build checks against, and they are derived from the CSS, never measured from a render.

How an interior sheet is built

The eyebrow carries the section number. Numbering is manual and sequential, written "Section 2" and "Section 2, continued" when a section runs over a page break, because a section that splits must not renumber.

A subhead is a heading, not a label

Body copy runs the full content column at 10.5pt. Two column body text is banned in this class. It was rejected twice on the same document: at roughly 25 characters a line the copy breaks into short ragged lines while space pools at the foot of the sheet.

The only multi-column blocks in the class are the cover contents, a pair of tables in a two-column grid, and two short notices side by side.

Nothing touches the chrome

Every block clears the running head and the footer by real space. A block set flush to a rule reads as one broken shape with a notch cut in it.

A fourth level exists and is rarely needed

Use it for a named item inside a subsection, not as a substitute for a real subhead.

The page carries no overflow rule, permanently. A page that outgrows its 11in box spills onto an extra sheet so the page-count assert catches it.

Interior sheet, full page. Running head, eyebrow, h2, h3, h4, body, footer. Source footers carry a literal 0; the build renumbers every one of them from page div order. The last sheet may close on the closing block carrying its number instead of a footer, never both, which is why the closing block sits on its own crop below rather than inside the sheet above.

The last sheet ends on its closing block. Nothing follows it, and the sheet carries no footer of its own, because a footer and a closing number land on the same 20 points and overprint.

Closing block, last sheet only. The organization at 11pt, one line of copy at body size, and the page number in mono pushed right under a 1.5pt navy rule. It replaces the footer on that one sheet; the build numbers the closing block from page div order exactly as it numbers a footer.
